May Devotion -
Written by Dana Progar

Do you know that God made you specifically, uniquely, magnificently special to reflect His
glory in a way that no one else does?

Many of us go through life hearing voices that oppose this truth of our beauty and uniqueness
in Him.  If you’re anything like me, you have listened to your family members who have said,
“if you only wear your hair this way and your eye liner that way, THEN you will be attractive
and men will pursue you.”  Or perhaps you’re family and/or husband may be affirming, but
you’re constantly hearing the voice of the world that screams through the media, “if you are
thin, smiling, polished, and fashionable, THEN you will be lovable (or more lovable).”  These
subtle voices can creep in and detract us from the truth of God’s unconditional love.  We don’t
have to earn it.  We don’t have to color it.    And no, we won’t ever lose it.  Nothing can
separate us from His love.

The enemy wants you to doubt this certainty that you are beautiful!  You are made in the
image of God.  The Master Craftsman paints the picture of your heart with an array of
vibrancy…desires, skills, dreams, passions, compassions, and mysteries that reveal more of His
creative design and glory.

I pray that you would be able to celebrate your style, your personality, your gifts, your quirks,
your strengths, and your weakness.  He loves it all.  Your beauty and worthiness of love does
not come from the outside.  It comes from a heart that is God’s.  It comes from an inner man
that is being renewed daily.  It comes from the Kingdom of God within you (Luke 17:21b).
May the truth of God’s love for you overwhelm even the deepest lies.

For Reflection:
Have you ever felt delighted in?  What did it feel like?  Did it last?
Do you know that Jesus delights in you every day (check out Psalm 139)?  Do you really know
how stunning He finds you to be…how eager He is to be with you (regardless of your mood or
appearance)?  I invite you to take some time this month and let Jesus love you.  He desires to
romance you, show you His love and delight, and in turn receive your affection.  I encourage
you to listen to what HE might be saying…

A prayer for you…
Dear Jesus, I pray for the women who are reading this, that we would be more and more aware
of Your abundant love for us.  May we see Your heart that delights and even celebrates the
totality of who we are as women.  God, I pray for support for one another….That we would be
constantly reminded of our worth in You.  Thank You for seeing a beautiful treasure when you
see us.  God, may we live in response to Your love.  I pray that Your love would surround us
and fill us with confidence and security.

In Jesus’ name,

Amen
